....the campground is a bargain compared to the cost of renting an apartment in Fort McMurray, which, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing, boasts the highest average rental costs in the country -- up to 3,500 US dollars per month.

That's why we repeatedly tell people to research before you come to Alberta. I have seen many Canadians (mostly Ontarians) lured to Alberta by the hopes of big money. However, they have no oil and gas experience, no place too live, no resume and no plan. Research people...it just makes sense. As Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry Minister Iris Evans recently said; only come to Alberta if you have a job and a place to live.
And I thought the rent in Toronto was bad....
Wondering how people in occupations such as mine "make do".
Wages are pretty much the same across the country.
